Things to do in Calgary with Kids | October 9-11

It’s a gorgeous October weekend and we’re getting into the heart of spooky season. Here are the best things to do in Calgary with kids this weekend:

Fiver Fridays

Fiver Fridays were such a hit last year, they had to be brought back! Indulge in science for just $5 for five Fridays. 🍹🧪 – 5 Fridays (Sept 18 – Oct 16) – $5 Admission 5 – 9 PM (18+) – $5 Food specials – $5 Drink specials End each week with science on your side and enjoy access to the Brainasium Outdoor Park, the HD Dome Theatre and the entire science centre including all galleries.

Take a Virtual Kids Cookie Making Cookie Class

Is there anything more delicious than cookies? Ask chef JP and he will tell you the only thing more delicious, is cookies that are easy to bake! Have your junior chef learn how to make simple, easy cookies in this PD Day class.

Harvest Pumpkin Fest at Butterfield Acres

Admission tickets to the Harvest Pumpkin Fest MUST BE PRE-PURCHASED ONLINE for a specific day. The Pumpkin Fest runs 10am – 4pm weekends in October, in specific 2 HOUR WINDOWS. Your 2 hour ticket includes: Visits with all of your favorite farm animals (of course)! Hand washing stations available throughout the farm and outside animal pens and activities! With Covid precautions, we now must be washing hands both BEFORE and after each pen/activity.

Take an Astronomy 101 Stargazing Session

Stargazing is an accessible activity for families—and a great excuse to introduce kids to astronomy! Learn how to identify constellations, find the North Star, see the Milky Way, learn more about our moon (who does have a name!), see the satellites in the sky, maybe be lucky enough to see a shooting star or two!

Free Family Active Living Days

Family Active Living Days are designed for all ages to come out to Kamp Kiwanis to enjoy the natural outdoor setting and engage in activities such as archery, canoeing, crafts, nature walks, orienteering and more. Best of all, these activities are FREE to participate in! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED at 403-242-9255 or for all activities is required. You can partake in a half-day program, full-day program or multiple days.
