WEEKEND GUIDE: Here’s what to do in Calgary this Weekend with Kids

It’s the last month of February and we’ve got you covered for family friendly things to do with the kids this month in Calgary.

Friday

Explore Northern Lights at ContainR

containR has no walls, we are a constellation of spaces, people, platforms, and ideas nestled in the neighborhood of Sunnyside. We seek to inspire new ways of creative thinking and gathering. Powered by passion, the featured artists and containR creative teamwork at the forefront of art, performance, and community to develop, produce, and present immersive experiences.

Pop up Roller Skating

roller-skating with lights, music, and 15 000 square feet of the beautiful wood floor! There’s lots of parking, lockers (bring your own lock), and snacks to purchase. Helmets and protective gear (helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads) are recommended. You can also rent skates, if needed.

Bridgeland Arctic Adventure

Winter fun for all is on the way! Be on the lookout for crazy structures and snakes! BRIDGELAND ARCTIC ADVENTURE starts Family Day weekend. Explore the neighbourhood, there’s something to do for everyone at this weekend-long event.

Saturday

Explore the Mobile Adventure Playground

The self-directed, drop-in program that use loose parts and natural materials to inspire active and creative outdoor play, and connect people, young and old, to nature. Nature play spaces have been chosen to meet the needs of creative, imaginative, nature-based and self-directed play that are vital to children's cognitive, emotional and social development. Onsite play ambassadors will be on site to inspire play. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch their children's imaginations soar in this new adventure space

Cineplex Family Favourites

The $2.99 movies at Cineplex on Saturday mornings are back and we’re stoked for the $2.99 movies. It’s an inexpensive way to bring the kids to the movies - but make sure you buy tickets ahead of time.

Sunday

Landmark Kids Day Sunday

Every Sunday, kids can get out of the house and score a movie ticket and Snack Pack (popcorn, drink, choice of candy treat) for one great, low price. Every movie, every Sunday. Landmark Cinemas' Kid's Day – turn the average Sunday into a movie-filled Funday. Check your favourite Landmark Cinemas for showtimes.

Skate on Top of the Mall

The Top Deck Skating Rinks are located outside on the upper deck of the North East Parkade (near Decathlon). Get on the ice at Southcentre Mall’s Top Deck Skating Rinks – a new way to enjoy winter. Top Deck will feature two outdoor skating rinks that will be open for both public and private skating.
