FYI: Kids can Register for ‘Code Club’ and Learn Coding in this FREE Weekly Program at Calgary Library

Coding classes can be expensive, but parents - we’ve got you covered for the best free things to do with kids in this month.

Code Club is a free program, offered weekly, for children between the ages of 10-12. Children will learn to code by creating your own game, designing a website, and more with one-on-one help from teen volunteers and Library staff. The program is designed for beginner coders.

Here’s what you should know before you register for Code Club

  • Multiple locations are available for the weekly program. You can find the full program list monthly, at the Calgary Library website.

  • Missed the registration, can’t attend or the programs are full? This is an ongoing program offered on a regular basis through the library

  • The program is free, but registration is required in advance

  • Code club is a sixty-minute drop-off program, unparented. It makes for the perfect time for parents to browse the library, catch up on reading, grab a coffee or catch up on work while the kids are learning to code!

  • For younger children, there’s a similar program called ‘Code Buddies’ offered for children between the ages of 6-9. You can register for that program, here.
